Zimbabwe can currently be classified as a stage 2 country in the demographic transition model. The primary reason why the nation is in stage 2 is due its high birth rate. Another reason why it can be classified in this stage is because its infant mortality rate is high which illustrates the weak healthcare the country has in possession. A third reason behind this is the pyramid shape of its population. The country has a high infant and young aged population and lacks an older population due to its low life expectancy.
